Chocolate: It has been used as a sacred offering to the gods, in rituals of human sacrifice, and as a delicacy for members of the ruling class. It has been used as medicinal therapy, as a trading commodity for gold and riches, and as a key player for the Industrial Revolution. Throughout the centuries, from the times of the ancient Aztecs to the Spanish conquistadores to the WWII soldiers, chocolate has retained a mesmerizing power across the world. So many kinds of people, young and old, male and female, with all kinds of backgrounds and beliefs, have shared in the delight of this decadent treat.

So while chocolate is a universal joy, transcending time, place, and social boundaries, it also reveals much about the diversity of the world's people. Chocolate has shaped history and heritage for cultures of the world, contributing to the unique experiences we have.
